🙂
I totally should've done this post last week, but my phone went kaput on me and I had to get a new one.
The bad news is that I lost a majority of my pictures from my actual birthday (hence the reasoning for not posting then), but the good news is that I am now a proud owner of an iphone 4S.
Holla.
Okay...where to begin?!?
Friday night, since I lurve Funfetti cupcakes so much, I whipped up a Funfetti martini! Here's where I got the idea, but I didn't have any of that stuff so I whipped up my own recipe instead. Cake vodka, almond milk, Frangelico, etc.
So, on Saturday the 16th, we went to Twin's pool and lounged outside all day.
I whipped up a pitcher of Melon Ball Margaritas and sipped on them all.day.long.
It was glorious.
And yes that is totally a Halloween cup in the middle of summer.
That's how I roll.
Twin's son (a.k.a. the cutest baby ever) zonked out almost as soon as we got there. Luckily, parents apparently bring *everything known to man* along with them when they have children, and Twin whipped out this little handy, dandy tent for him to snooze in while we relaxed in the sun.
After he woke up, he was his usual absolutely precious and entertaining self.
I'm pretty sure he said, "What up, yo?" as I took this picture 😉
After the pool we headed back to Twin's parent's house to cook out, and one of our friends presented us with an absolutely *DELICIOUS* beer to sample.
Ugh...like it was so good I just wanted to run with it through a meadow of daises while I looked longingly into its Edward Cullen-esque non-existent golden, glittering eyes.
I mean it was beer that tasted like banana bread...and not like that nasty, stale overly processed crap that sits on the table at your office junk...no, no, no...it was like warm (err...cold), tender, soft, delicious freshly baked homemade banana bread that your granny used to make...and infused with a dark, rich beer.
GAH! I almost can't take not having one in my hand right now.
*le sigh*
I was then surprised with a gorgeously decorated and absolutely scrumptious strawberry birthday cake!
On Sunday, considering it was Father's Day and all, we ate lunch with my parents and I officially became the best daughter ever because I gave my dad something other than a set of swarovski crystal studded golf ball cuff links or a Christmas moose tie tac he would never use...except note to self...he may actually totally wear a crystal studded Christmas moose tie tac...
After that, we headed to one of our favorite spots for happy hour on the creek.
Lucky for us they had a $2 Father's Day mimosa special 😉
And when all of my girlfriends got there and we started cackling like chickens in a hen house, the hubs took a walk and snapped some pics of the beautiful sunset.
On Tuesday the 19th, my actual birthday, I spent time with my mama one! We stopped by Starabuckasa (family nickname) and got my free bday drink, then we went downtown and shopped around and spent time browsing through our favorite shops. We, of course, stopped by Godiva and got truffles like we did for the hub's bday. We got several flavors but the one that I remember the most was the banana split. The goop inside was half banana and half strawberry and it was divine!!! We went to La Ha, a local Mexican joint, for taco locos and then we just cruised around town and took in the scenery.
The last and most fun thing we did was go to the farmer's market where we picked up everything we needed for supper. I had the best birthday dinner ever, and I'm pretty sure it couldn't have gotten more southern! We had grilled ribeyes, freshly sauteed green & yellow zucchini, sliced heirloom tomato, fresh watermelon, boiled peanuts, and peach cobbler for dessert. Delish!
I had also never seen yellow zucchini before, have you? And no, it's not yellow summer squash, it's zucchini! See?!?
On Wednesday, I went and got my her did. I go to the Paul Mitchell school where students do your hair and it's stupidly inexpensive, so I knew I would be there for a while. I was right...it took over 5 hours!!!! Needless to say, my back was *killing* me by the time we were finished, but no pain, no gain right? Also, the girl who did my hair was precious and we talked about boys the entire time. It was awesome.
I had been wanting to do my hair like this for months, but then when I got preggers I couldn't do it like I wanted to. Then, after we lost the baby, I knew it was now or never so this is (one) of the birthday presents I gave myself. I lurve it!!!
Weirdly enough...it looks soooooooo much better in real life!
We spent Thursday evening with my HLP (heterosexual life partner) and her man. We went to the *best* Thai restaurant in town and then had froyo from TCBY. It's good, but it ain't Yobe!!! My HLP has been one of my best friends since 4th grade. I love her so much, I have no idea what I would do without her! She is absolutely hysterical, tall and gorgeous, and just a shining beacon in my life. She means the *world* to me, and I may just have to give her her own Skinny on Me post one day!
And finally, my hubs presented me with an awesome bday present! As I mentioned when I got to go see Wicked, we love musicals! So, the hubs found out Green Day's American Idiot was coming to town and he got us tickets! Gah, I love him!
So, I want to give a big shout out, holla, word up, and thank you to all of my friends and family that made my birthday so memorable! I love y'all and wouldn't be where I am today without each and every one of y'all!!! XOXO
Getting to know you...
What is your favorite musical?
Do you ever go to a sweet shop to pick out chocolates?
What's your favorite cocktail?
Mia says
I don't know if I have a favorite musical...but Madame Butterfly is my favorite opera. And that's like a musical, right? In general, I like the arts. So musicals, plays, operas...I love it all.
I was never a big junk food person - even as a kid (except ice cream. I loves me some ice cream), so I don't think I've ever gone to a sweet shop to pick out chocolates. Oh, except I was in a wedding and the bride asked me to grab some to give out at her wedding as a prize.
Favorite cocktail? Now that I'm on WW, its tequila + Walmart-brand light margarita mix (read: Crystal Light Mocktail, but cheaper). Normally, either a peach daiquiri or a mojito. Or a cosmo. Or...well, I think you see where this going.
Glad you had a good bday week! So sad about your phone/photos 🙁

gah! I used to go pick out chocolates at a certain chocolate store with certain people... sigh! If I don't start losing weight soon I am going to abandon this whole "stop eating as many sweets" thing! I have been eating like 90% less sweets since getting into exercising this summer and I have GAINED weight. :p If I'm not going to be losing weight I'm going back to eating what I want. (In bad mood because Charlie and I woke up early from our nap... can you tell!)

I'm sorry you're in a bad mood! Maybe a trip to Godiva would make you feel better?!? 😉
