This drank is straight up WICKED.
Wickedy, Wickedy, Wickedy, Whack…in a good way 😉
I originally had another cocktail in mind for today, but I received a phone call on Wednesday night that changed the rest of my week and thereby changed today’s Sassy Hour recipe.
For those of you who don’t know me personally, I ADORE musicals. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE them. Love, love, love them!
The best birthday gift I ever received was from the hubs and were season tickets to The Best of Broadway series at the performing arts center at our coliseum in 2009. We got to see Sweeny Todd, Annie, The Drowsy Chaperone, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Almost all of them were fabulous (we walked out of Scoundrels).
This year’s Best of Broadway series also had great shows including Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins…
And Wicked.
I’ve seen Wicked once before, but clearly I’d go see it again if I had the chance. For the past week or so, I’ve had a few friends talking about how they were going to see it, or who have been posting pics from inside the theater.
Jealous.
J to the E to the A to the l to the O…you get my drift.
I’ve wanted to go soooooo badly so the hubs could finally see what I’ve been talking about for so long (I lucked out. He loves musicals too!), but tickets were just sooo expensive.
Which brings me back to Wednesday.
I have a friend who works for a company that sponsors a lot of awesome events around town. She called me on Wednesday to tell me that she had an extra ticket for Friday’s Wicked performance, and she asked if I’d be interested in going.
SCORE!!!!
So, not only do I now get to go see my favorite musical ever, but I also get to go for FREE and I get to enjoy a FREE cocktail reception before the show plus a FREE dessert reception after the show!!!!!
Needless to say, I’m incredibly stoked, so I have made this cocktail in her honor. It’s full of sweet deliciousness and isn’t bad calorie wise either!
So, let’s lift up our elixers and toast my amazing friend:
Dear Friend, THANK GOODNESS for you!!! IN ONE SHORT DAY, you have become the most POPULAR girl on the planet to me. I feel like I’m DANCING THROUGH LIFE and DEFYING GRAVITY because you gifted me with such a WICKED prize!!!! Thank you so much for giving me the chance to see my favorite show ever! I am so grateful and incredibly stoked!!!
Cheers!
Note: I sugared the rim of the martini glass for the photo only. I used to have black, but I don’t know what happened to it. This drink is sweet enough as it is, so I wouldn’t suggest doing it!

April 28, 2012This looks lovely! I used to invent martinis similar to this, coconut rum, vanilla vodka, melon liquor, banana liquor, splash of OJ and Pineapple, garnished with orange wheel and a banana coin in bottom. eek, you have inspired me to make martinis for my blog!

April 28, 2012YUUUUUM!!! That sounds sooo delicious!!!! How did you keep it from being too sweet though? That’s one reason why I cut mine with soda water AND I wanted to make it bubbly like a witches brew 😉
