I know I totally promised y'all a recipe today, but time just got away from me! It seems like I am full of excuses lately, but between my grandfather passing away, my nephew being born premature, and growing a human, I'd say that my excuses are pretty good, right?!?
Right.
I figured some of y'all are curious as to how my pregnancy is going? Well, I'm going to pretend like you are, and I'm going to tell you all about it any way. I haven't really given any recaps at all, so I'll go ahead and do that now. Plus, this will be fun to look back on one day.
^^^13 weeks^^^
1st Trimester: Week 1-13
Weight Gain: -4lbs
Symptoms: All day, debilitating exhaustion, all day nausea, migraines, backaches, I threw up every time I brushed my teeth (plus several other times), spotting, and an overall just got plowed by a mack truck feeling.
Aversions: Practically any and all food that didn't include saltines, ginger ale, and organic ginger candy, but *especially* anything that included chocolate or meat.
Cravings: This was are more like what could I stomach...carrots and ranch dressing, pickles, bagels, and carbs of any sort.
Momentous Milestones: Nothing fun to report!
I ain't going to lie...the 1st trimester was pure torture. Whoever said pregnancy was full of rainbows and glitter farts is full of bullshiz. Growing a human is hard and it makes your body do all sorts of things you didn't think possible. Just keep in mind that every single pregnancy is different, and every single bout of nausea will be totally worth it once I have our little man in our arms!
^^^23 Weeks^^^
2nd Trimester: Week 13-28
Weight Gain: +4lbs that I originally lost after first tri plus an additional 1-2 lbs
Symptoms: Energy!!! I finally started to feel normal again right at 13 weeks. I started exercising again, eating full meals, and feeling back to my old self. That awesome feeling would last for about 4-5 days and then, 2-3 days a week, I'd feel like crap again and have bouts of nausea.
Around week 20, I had to stop exercising because I had a super severe case of round ligament pain that knocked me on my behind and kept me on the couch for 4 straight days, and my back injury has since started to flare up and rear its ugly head because I can't take all of my medication. Oh, plus I have crazy, crazy, cray-cray heartburn! Like, not even kidding, water gives me heartburn! Oh, I have also started nesting!
Aversions: I didn't really start eating meat again until around week 17, but other than that I haven't really had any other aversions.
Cravings: Chicken ceasar salad, vegetables, fruit, pickles, fruit snacks, granola bars, tons and tons and tons of ice water, and Dairy Queen chocolate dipped swirled ice cream cones.
Momentous Milestones:
Week 15: I felt our baby kick for the 1st time! I never felt the "butterfly" feeling a lot of people talk about.
Week 17: We found out that we are having a very healthy baby boy who we are naming Owen Ray.
Week 23: My husband felt Owen kick for the first time.
Week 25: I made our first big purchase and bought our crib, crib mattress, and changing pad from Amazon, and Owen kicked hard enough for us to actually see my belly move!
^^^26 weeks^^^
I still have two more weeks left of my 2nd trimester, but I am already starting to feel run down! The exhaustion and nausea seem to be coming back more often, and my belly just feels super, super heavy. I've had to start wearing a maternity support brace to take some pressure off of my back, and I'm assuming I'll end up on bed rest pretty shortly once Owen takes off on his own growth curve. Today marked the last of my monthly appointments, and I will start going to bi-weekly appointments until further notice!

Yes! I think Owen is the CUTEST name! Can't wait to see the pics when he's here. You planning post any ultrasound pics so we can see him even before he arrives?!
amber says
Thanks, Mia! We love it too 🙂 I will definitely be posting pics when he gets here, but I'm not going to post any ultrasound pics. I've got to keep some memories for just me and the hubs 😉

Totally understandable! Can't wait to "celebrate" my bday with the little guy in a few months 🙂
(P.S. Its like EVERYONE and their momma is having babies these days...must be something in the water! Glad it made its way to the Carolinas)

Love the name!! I'm so sorry you've been dealing with some health issues during the pregnancy. 🙁 I promise it will be worth it in the end, but going through it I'm sure is very difficult!

Thanks, Kristen! Yeah, pregnancy definitely isn't all it's cracked up to be, but I know it will all be worth it. Plus, him kicking around in my belly is the absolute *best* feeling ever! I adore it 🙂
