You read that right.
Chocolate covered strawberries…
For breakfast.
Aaaaaaand you don’t have to feel guilty about it either.
No added sugars, 7 grams of fiber, plus it’s chock full of healthy stuff like whole grains, protein, and chocolate…which is totally good for you…in moderation.
Once I got on the whole overnight oats band wagon, I knew it would never stop. The possibilities of flavors are endless and these make you so full you really don’t get hungry again until lunch.
I’ve always been an oatmeal lover, but in the south it can easily reach 90 degrees before 9am, so a piping hot bowl of oats in the sweltering heat is the absolute last thing I would want to eat.
But this?
I could eat all.day.long.
Since I am a creature of habit though, I have tried really hard to revamp my meals at home and not continually eat the same things for breakfast over and over again. So, since the flavors are endless, something like this has become my new go to.
Plus, these are ready for you as soon as you wake up, which means no effort before your morning cup of joe!
Holla.
You do have to be super careful when it comes to making these porridges of pleasure, especially if you are a calorie counter like me. Like I said, the possibilities are endless, but if you aren’t restrained, you could end up with a tiny bowl of oats that’s well over 350 calories.
Ouch.
I try really hard to keep my breakfast 275 calories or less, and that includes my coffee!
Luckily, with a breakfast like this, I can go light on the cream and heavy on the chocolate.
There is also another reason why I love this breakfast.
My husband and I ate chocolate covered strawberries the night he proposed. Ugh, so magical and absolutely perfect…and I’ll tell you all about it…some other time
Back to breakfast.
I used to loathe eating it.
Growing up, my mom would make us bacon & eggs before school, and I would always refuse to eat them. I just wasn’t a big breakfast kind of girl. I’m kinda still that way, and I usually won’t eat a whole lot in the morning unless it’s the weekend…or someone else is paying…or it’s free…or I’m completely hung over…which never happens. I’m a good girl like that.
Sike.
Now, if my mom made something like this for me in the mornings, I would’ve wolfed it down every single time.
Which means your kids will too!
Throw away the poptarts, 86 the breakfast burritos, hot pockets, lean pockets, pita pockets, or whatever else is on the market these days and make your kids a bowl of this.
Throw all of the ingredients together the night before while you are making their lunches, and you’ve killed two birds with one stone.
Making something like this for breakfast may actually make your babies want to get up in the morning.
I mean…what kid wouldn’t want chocolate covered strawberries for breakfast?!?
My thoughts exactly.
Getting to know you…
Have you ever made overnight oats?
Did you like breakfast as a kid?
What is your favorite breakfast dish?

- ½ cup organic, old fashioned oats
- ½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 2 tbsp Chobani vanilla (or strawberry!) Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp dark chocolate cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp Stevia in the Raw
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp flax seeds
- ¼ tsp instant expresso powder
- pinch of salt
- 3-4 strawberries, sliced
- mini chocolate chips for garnish (optional)
- Add oats, milk, yogurt, cocoa, stevia, chia seeds, flax seeds, expresso, and salt to a bowl and stir until well combined.
- Starting and ending with the fruit, layer the strawberries & oat mixture in a small cup until no ingredients remain.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Remove plastic wrap, sprinkle with chocolate chips, and serve.
- Enjoy!

I’ve never made overnight oats, and I’m unclear what makes them better than just microwaving a bowl in the morning then tossing all the other stuff in. Maybe if I tried them, I’d get it? I love oatmeal, though, and I totally don’t care if its 108 degrees while I’m eating them. I just add a tad more milk to cool them off more quickly and I’m good to go
P.S. I LOVE breakfast! I particularly adore French toast, but I’m a huge fan of most egg dishes, potato dishes, biscuits, muffins, scones, etc.
If you love oatmeal, then you’ll love overnight oats! The main difference is there is no cooking involved b/c letting them sit in the fridge overnight lets the oats soak up all of the moisture so they soften up. So, in the morning when you wake up, you don’t have to do anything but open the fridge and dig in! Also, and most importantly, these are a *BAJILLION* times better for you than your standard microwave oatmeal. First off, they are loaded with protein & fiber, but they also lack the added sugars and preservatives that you find in the over processed microwaved kinds. Another added benefit? They’re cheaper!!!! Make this recipe and let me know how you like it!
That is one sexy breakfast! Rawr!
My favorite breakfast is not healthy…IHOP Cinnastax. If I was trying to watch it, oatmeal with cookie butter and banana.

I used to be the same way with breakfasts– my parents would literally have to force me to try to eat something before heading to school haha. Now, it’s become my favorite meal AND time of the day

Ick. The morning is my least favorite part of the day! I’m totally a night owl! I do love me some breakfast now though!
I just recently tried overnight oats, and as most, fell in love instantly. In fact, if you use quick oats, you don’t have to wait overnight to eat them… just give them 10-30 minutes and they are done… or, if you appreciate more texture, you can do the same with regular old fashioned oats… Although, I don’t use chia or flax, as they are super calorie dense, and these overnight oats are pretty high cal as it is!! I also usually use more yogurt (regular, not greek as it is lower in calories). Unfortunately, unlike most people, I don’t find this to be filling AT ALL. I usually use this as a small snack, which will tide me over about 45 min. However, it is soooo yummy that I still eat it. I am a huge oatmeal fan and love it made on stove top, baked, or muesli style. I never eat them hot or warm no matter how I make them though. When I make them on the stove, I let them cool a bit, then spread them out over a large plate and pop them in the freezer for about 15 min to completely cool them… then I dig in!!
Hi, Nikki! Glad you joined the “overnight” oat band wagon! I usually make the overnight b/c I’m not a patient person AT ALL. There is absolutely no way I could make them in the morning and then wait another 10-30 mins for them to chill! I’d probably try…and then take one bite…and then another and another and the next thing you know, they’re all gone! I like to make them at night just for that reason. I can open the fridge and BAM they’re ready to eat. Love the convenience. As for filling me up, it really all depends on the day. Some days I stay satisfied for hours and then other days I want to eat again a couple of hours later. It really all depends!
Well, I have made them with both quick and old fashioned oats and ate them right away with no soaking. Still really good, just a much thinner consistency of course! As for the fullness factor, I seem to have an insatiable appetite. There is not much that ever fills me up for more than an hour. Last night I had 1/2 cup quick oats soaked in 1 cup homemade chunky applesauce (that included plums, strawberries, cherries, and apples), about 1/3 cup extra water, and cinnamon, and after eating the whole thing I was still quite hungry… I proceeded to eat a full cup of chickpeas and still a bit hungry… and this was about 1/2 an hour after eating a large grapefruit, and about 1/2 hour before that a banana… I hate it! Good thing I am underweight!!
