🙂
Welcome to the fourth installment of The Skinny On Me (SOM) series!
Today I'm going to tell you about our two gorgeous babies!
Our kittles cattles, or kitty cats, that is 😉
When the hubs and I first started dating (close to 5 ½ yrs ago), I had just graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) and moved into a new apartment. Not too long afterwards, I got lonely living by myself, so I decided I needed a cat.
I knew exactly what kind of cat I wanted.
I wanted a short-haired, orange female tabby that I could name Clementine.
So, I planned to make a trip to our local SPCA the next day, when my dad told me that my grandmother's cat had kittens a few weeks back and they were ready to be weaned. He said that she had a orange tabby with the most beautiful markings he had ever seen, and if I wanted it, he would bring it home for me the next day b/c he was going up there any way.
After confirming (twice) that the kitten was short-haired and female, I made the hasty decision and told my dad that I wanted her!!!
This is what he brought home to me...
The most adorable little kitten I had ever seen! I fell in love instantaneously.
But...then I realized that this kitten was not a she but a he and he was by no means short-haired but long-haired thereby making it impossible to name the little thing Clementine.
Dang-it! 🙁
Oh, well...
After much deliberation, the hubs came up with the most brilliant name ever given to a teeny, weeny baby orange kitten: Weasley.
As in Ronald Weasley.
As in Ronald Weasley from Harry Potter (who I am completely obsessed with BTW which is a whole other SOM posting in itself)!
Yeah, Weasley was perfect, BUT he needed a middle name.
I eventually settled on Weasley McGonagall Horntail *Last Name*
Perfection (I told you I was HP obsessed).
Weasley is now a GIANT who weighs close to 18 lbs. He totally lives up to his name "Horntail" b/c he is as mean as a pit viper!!!
Especially when made to wear hats...
But he can be precious and cuddly too...
Now that brings us to our other baby that we rescued last year.
We were in NC at Will's family's house for 4th of July when we spotted two little kittens in a bush. One was orange and one was grey. I found a frisbee and put some cat food in it, and tried to feed them.
The little grey kitty ran away, but the orange one was starving and didn't care so she timidly approached the food.
When I saw her up close, I was horrified!
Her eyes were all goopy, she was covered in fleas, and she was just pitiful! I couldn't stand it!
Long story short, I kept feeding her and she kept coming around. I told the hubs that she was coming home with us and he reluctantly agreed.
Again, Weasley is a giant tom cat who can be super feisty sometimes (he has backed my best friend into a corner on more than one occasion) so the hubs was worried.
I didn't care. The baby was coming home with us!
So, we went to the store, got some flea powder and shampoo and cleaned the little girl up...
She was so grateful and knew she was safe! She slept in her box the entire 6 hrs it took us to get home...
Sticking with the HP theme (and b/c she kept hiding in my MIL's lilies), we named her Lily Liberty Lovegood *Last Name*
We were worried that Weas was going to hate her when we first brought her home, but he hissed at her once and it was over. From then on, they were best buds and play fight all.the.time.
Lily is one of the most amazing kitties ever!!!
First off, she chirps like a quail. I've never heard anything like it. We found her out in the country close to a bunch of corn fields, so I'm assuming that's where she learned it from...actual quail.
It's so darn cute! She chirps in greeting when she enters a room, she chirps as she runs up and down the hall during her crazy kittle cattle calisthenics. She chirps if you pet her while she's sleeping, she chirps when she's hungry, and she chirps at the door when the hubs comes home from work.
Her personality is the complete opposite of Weasley's.
She is an angel compared to him!
Not to mention, a TOTAL Daddy's girl...
I love both of our babies unconditionally! I could not imagine my life without them!!!
Oh, and laundry baskets don't stand a chance in our house...ever...
Getting to Know You...
Do you have furbabies?
Do they have crazy names like mine?
Cat person or dog person?

Awww how sweet! I love kitties 🙂 and orange ones are so beautiful! I'm sad for the little grey kitty, I hope she found a good home. But it definitely looks like Weasley and Lily are in good hands 🙂

Unfortunately, we don't know what happened to the the little grey kitty 🙁 He never showed back up after we saw him that first time. It still makes me sad to think about it!

Definitely more of a dog person, but your cat is adorable. And I love LOLcats and Caturday!

Cute kids you have! We have an old calico broad named Mabel. She's about 14 years old and is just an old cranky bat. When our daughter was 5, we let her get her "own" cat and she picked out a solid black male kitten. Oh boy...he's a monster! She named him Meow-Moe and he is really good with her, but he can be really aggressive with me and I've got the wounds to prove it. I've never had a male before, so I don't know what to think.

I love your post about your kittle cattles, I have a short hair Calico named Karmen Khameleon and a Shepard/Shar pei doggie named Little Man Tate, I call them Kami and Tate but they will come to anything I call them. Tate gets Tater, Tatum, etc. and Kami gets "effing wh*&3" and Sweetie in the same breath. She is a very big troublemaker, she beats up the dog and then rubs up against him and licks him. I think she has multiple personcality Kissorder, not that there is anything wrong with that. I also LOVE, Love, love Harry Potter too. (I think it was you who mentioned Supernatural, haven't seen it but will look for it on my TV, thanks for telling us about it if it was you). I hope you have a great Holiday Season and enjoy every minute of feasting with your family and friends. All the best! Jenni
