“There is a truth deep down inside of you that has been waiting for you to discover it,
and that truth is this:you deserve all good things life has to offer." Rhonda Burn, The Secret
2014 was, by far, the absolutely most grueling year of my life.
Today I'm choosing to no longer linger in the past, but instead focus on my future.
It is going to be an incredibly big year for us. I can feel it. Have y'all ever just known, deep down inside your gut, that the course of your life was changing? It's almost as if I see tiny little signs everywhere I look that no one else on the planet would notice but me. Like when the tiny Eastern bluebirds with their stunning royal blue wings and rust colored breasts twitter along the power lines as they follow me on my morning walks.
Their presence symbolizes happiness and hope, and I immediately feel as if God is with me, giving me a sign about the things to come.
I also firmly believe in the law of attraction.
I believe that thoughts becomes things, and this year I am choosing to focus my thoughts on positive, attainable goals that I will actually be able to reach rather than chasing after a life or an objective that is always two steps out of reach.
One positive that I've come across so far, is when Will and I looked through our resolutions from 2013. I am happy to say that we checked nearly all of them off of the list. That's a huge plus! I'm hoping that we will be able to do that again this year and in the future.
As the 1st day of 2015 begins, my resolutions are simple. For starters, I'm looking at them as lifestyle changes rather than resolutions. I want to make these a daily part of my life, and I feel that my goals are simple enough to be realistic. I'm also counting on y'all to help me reach my goals!
1. Take Owen outside to play every day.
Now that Owen has learned how to walk, he is on the move! He is constantly walking back and forth and back and forth and getting into anything and everything he can get his hands on. He has been running a fever all week, and it has not stopped him at all! It didn't slow him down a bit. I think it is important that he gets out into the sunshine and explores the earth and digs his fingers and toes in the dirt and grass. Hopefully his allergies will be better and he won't get a fever every time he steps foot in the grass like he did last year.
2. Be more consistent and organized with blogging.
This blog means so much to me! This year, I plan to create a day planner just for my blog, and I will set aside an hour or so every day just so I can blog. I will be establishing a set schedule, and I will be creating new posts according to that schedule. I will plan my recipe testing and photo shoots in advance and will become more active on my social media sites. I will also be more consistent with commenting and sharing the love with all of the other bloggers that I follow.
3. I will transition into a healthy eating & fitness lifestyle.
With this one, I want to be as lenient and realistic as I can be. I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself otherwise I will definitely fail. I really just want to incorporate 30 minutes of some sort of fitness activity into my life every day. I also want to make better choices with my food. I'm starting the Whole30 again today just to give myself a reboot, and after that I will continue to cut out sugar as much as I can because that will one day be the death of me fo sho.
4. Bring back a weekly Sassy Hour post.
This one is super important, and I already have a fantastic recipe to share with you this week! My low calorie cocktail recipes give me a huge traffic boost, and it's really important that I continue to create recipes that my readers will enjoy, right?!?
5. Get more involved with church/make God a priority in our daily lives.
Will and I made a promise to God, in front of our family and friends, to raise Owen in a loving home that is surrounded by God's words and teachings. It is very important to us that we keep this promise and, now that he is getting older and is starting to truly recognize the things around us and mimic what he sees, it is even more imperative that we become more active in our church. We already have a church that we love, we just need to make it a priority to attend every week and become more involved with the life groups, outreach programs, and members.
So, those are my new year's resolution for 2015! They seem attainable, right?
What are your goals for the new year?
Mia says
Your goals sound great! I haven't really set any specific goals or resolutions for the year. I've known for several months that I should finish the PhD portion of my program this year, so that's my biggest goal - and staying on top of my schedule/not getting "senioritis" and slacking. Carlin and I have been saying we need to start doing Bible study together, though we haven't talked about it as a specific goal for the year.
Can't wait for this week's Sassy Hour!
Amber says
Sassy Hour will have to wait until next week. My grandmother passed away on Monday and I had to rush back to SC for the week to be with my family.
Mia says
oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! I'll look forward to Sassy Hour whenever you get around to it, and be praying for y'all in the meantime.
