Tropical Lychee Lassi

:)

I discovered something priceless in Hawaii.

A tiny, little, milky white fruit that tastes divine and harbors magical powers.

Ok, so maybe the only magic that really happened was the explosion of flavor that erupted in my mouth when I first bit into the little gem, but hey…it’s the little things people.

And plus…who would think that something that looked so plain (when peeled) would taste so succulent and sweet?

The flavor of lychee is really hard to explain. It tastes like how a really expensive or to die for perfume smells…tropical, citrusy, passionate, and sophisticated.

A smell so fragrant and desirable, you find yourself sniffing and snuffling around department store cosmetic counters, clothing racks, and up and down stranger’s arms searching for the source like an old country hound dog lookin’ for “Oh, Ms. Lady Ma’am”.

That’s what lychees are like.

Teeny bits of paradise.

A vacation in your mouth.

Even if you’ve never visited any island other than the one in the middle of your Mama’s kitchen, one bite of the lychee fruit and you are long gone, day dreaming about black sand beaches, fruity umbrella drinks, and sexy cabana boys squeezed into leopard hotpants, schmoozing you while feeding you grapes and whispering to you in their thick, exotic accents.

Once you have your first lychee experience, you will spend the rest of your days scouring beach cabanas, poolside patios, and specialty drink menus, hunting for one more taste…just one hit…of the powerful punch they pack.

Oh, and FYI, I had absolutely no clue what a Lassi was until a few weeks ago :)

Getting to know you…

Have you ever had lychee fruit?

Have you ever seen fresh lychee fruit?

What’s your idea of paradise?
